In a follow-up to last week’s shock rumours that AlphaTauri might be forced into a relocation or a sale via their Red Bull owners, Team Principal Franz Tost has released a statement today cooling any talk of mass changes at the team.
In a statement released by AlphaTauri this morning, Franz said the following:
“I had some very good meetings with Oliver Mintzlaff [Red Bull’s Managing Director and CEO], and confirmed that the shareholders will not sell Scuderia AlphaTauri and that Red Bull will continue supporting the team in the near future.
“All these rumours have no foundation and the team has to remain focused for the start of the season to perform better than last year.”
Hard to argue with Franz given AlphaTauri’s ninth-place finish in last year’s Constructors’ Championship. But that suggests that AlphaTauri is seemingly off the market (even if there was no talk about those relocation rumours). Might still struggle to sell the £300 jumpers, mind…
