Race of Champions is BACK this weekend, and as well as a load of adorable Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher content, there’s also some wicked racing. It’s being held on ice and snow for a second year in a row, and there have been plenty of big surprises so far ๐
One of the shocks of the event was Team Finland being knocked out of the Nations Cup early on. The duo of two-time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkienen and everyone’s favourite coffee-drinking and proud mullet-owner, Valtteri Bottas, failed to make it through to the quarter-finals.ย
So who were these incredible talents that took down TWO legends of the pinnacle of motorsport? Team eROC, the Race of Champions Esports squad.ย
How about that?! One year after defeating Sebastian Vettel, sim racer @LucasBlakeley01 now takes down @ValtteriBottas!
This is we why do eROC, this is why sim racing deserves respect. #ROCSweden #F1@McLarenShadow pic.twitter.com/jonMFwysB5

Made up of current F1 Esports World Champion Lucas Blakeley and two-time F1 Esports World Champion Jarno Opmeer, the duo are not to be messed with. Especially McLaren esports driver Blakeley!
Lucas is no stranger to causing headlines at the ROC when he BEAT Vettel during a race last year. That’s right, Lucas won a race against a four-time world champion and one of the best in motorsport.ย
Iโd rather lose by giving it 110% and make mistakes than give it 90% and have no chance at all, to even be in this position was a major privilege and I hope we did you all proud ๐งก

This year he has returned and managed to beat Bottas and Hakkienen on separate occasions to knock them out! These are just insane scenes.ย
Unfortunately, Team eROC couldn’t conquer Team Germany and failed to make it into the semi-finals after Vettel got his revenge in his rematch with Blakeley. Still, what a story ๐
Get Lucas Blakeley a full-time drive somewhere!
