Antonio Giovinazzi Will Be Racing Hypercars With Ferrari This Year

Italian Jesus is back racing, and this time he’s swapping single-seaters for Hypercars in the FIA World Endurance Championship 🙌

Antonio Giovinazzi will be racing with Ferrari this season in their Hypercar programme. He’ll be jumping behind the wheel of a Ferrari 499P in WEC, starting at the 1000 Miles of Sebring in March.

Gio lost his Alfa Romeo drive at the end of the 2021 F1 season and made a move to Formula E for a season. Unfortunately, it didn’t go very well, and he finished the season in last place and was the only full-time driver not to score any championship points (his Dragon teammate Sergio Sette Camara managed two).

“The debut of the 499P will be a moment destined to enter the history of the Prancing Horse, and it will be a great honour for me to be part of this extraordinary moment,” Ferrari quoted Giovinazzi as saying.

“We know we have a great responsibility that we will face with great humility, but aware of our strength and ready for this great challenge.”

Last year, Gio got the chance to show Haas what he was made of at the United States Grand Prix in FP1. However, he managed to bin the car during the practice session, and well, Nico Hulkenberg ended up getting the seat instead 😬

We wish Gio all the best in his next adventure!
