Barrichello’s Son Will Make His Car Racing Debut This Year – WTF1

Barrichello’s Son Will Make His Car Racing Debut This Year

Everyone loved Rubens Barrichello, right? He wore his heart on his sleeve, always seemed happy, and just loved racing. He still does, too, as he continues his long career by racing in Brazilian stock cars. But before long there could be another Barrichello on the scene because his son Eduardo (or ‘Dudu’ as he’s known) is making the step up to single-seaters.

The 16-year-old has been making waves in karting for the past few years and will now attempt to do the same in the US Formula 4 championship, driving for the DC Motorsports team.

Team boss Don Conner said of his arrival:

“I’m extremely excited to have Eduardo on-board with us. He’s talented and has great passion for the craft, which has no doubt been passed down from his father. I’m honored that Rubens has chosen to trust us with Eduardo’s entry into open wheel racing, and I know that our goal will be to win the championship.”

If you miss F1 drivers from the early 2000s then you’re in luck, because junior series are slowly getting flooded with their children. As well as Dudu, there are a couple of Schumachers – Michael’s son Mick is heading into his second season of Formula 3, whilst Ralf’s son David will embark on his maiden season in German F4. Give it a few years and you’ll probably see Sebastian Montoya, too – he’s already a part of Ferrari’s driver academy.

How many of them will make it to F1? Hopefully they’re all good enough, because the nostalgia hit of another round of Schumacher/Montoya/Barrichello battles would be fantastic.
