Formula E Support Series To Feature Driverless Cars – WTF1

Formula E Support Series To Feature Driverless Cars

In another step towards our robot overlords taking over humanity, Formula E has announced that their support series for next season will feature, get this, driverless cars.

The series named ‘Roborace’ (not even joking) will feature ten teams – each with two cars – racing on Formula E’s street tracks for a full hour.

Denis Sverdlov, Founder of Kinetik and Roborace, said: “We believe that, in the future, all of the world’s vehicles will be assisted by AI and powered by electricity, thus improving the environment and road safety. Roboraceis a celebration of revolutionary technology and innovation that humanity has achieved in that area so far. It’s a global platform to show that robotic technologies and AI can co-exist with us in real life.”

Roborace replaces the all-electric ‘School Series’ which you may remember from this video, where it looks like a normal race but in slow motion.

So there you go, a racing series where instead of the driver in the car deciding things, all the strategy decisions, car management and overtake attempts come from the pitwall… so kinda like Formula One at the moment then.
