On the one hand, being a Red Bull junior driver is a great thing. Perform well and boom, you’re on a clear-cut path to the top. But fail to meet expectations and not only will you slip off the programme, but any chances of progressing further on the single-seater ladder will become severely limited.
Here are the six drivers currently involved, all of which are still at a relatively early stage of their racing career. From F3 to Formula Renault to Formula 4 and karting, all are hoping to emulate the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, and Max Verstappen and make it all the way to the top.
With all the speculation around Brendon Hartley’s seat, you’ve gotta imagine these guys are wishing they were just a couple of years further along in their careers…
