The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is one of the best-known and loved racing tracks in the USA. With only a few gaps, it has hosted IndyCar races since 1980 and is a staple of the current calendar. Although it is traditionally difficult to overtake on the twisty and undulating circuit, tell that to the likes of James Hinchcliffe and Charlie Kimball, who both made some stunning overtakes.

This year’s race was won by defending champion Scott Dixon from last place, his first victory in IndyCar for almost a year, after his team decided to make use of a caution period and run him on a fuel-saving strategy. Despite being told to save fuel, Dixon still managed to run at a similar pace to those behind him and was untroubled in his run to the finish, where he promptly stopped the car because he was about to run out of fuel – it was that close!
