Moments like this are why we are here, they made us fall in love with the sport. If the Las Vegas GP wasn’t already cooking up a good enough race, Charles Leclerc definitely added some spice with his last-lap lunge on Sergio Perez. SO GOOD.
We actually had a battle for P1, firstly between Charles and Max Verstappen and later with Charles and Sergio!
But just eight laps before the end of the grand prix, Charles locked up and ran wide into turn 12, and with Perez getting past, it seemed as though a Red Bull 1-2 was comfortably in the team’s hands.
Despite Charles being within DRS of Checo, he struggled to get the move done. Well, until the last lap when he dived down the inside of Perez in a spectacular move that secured P2. Sergio said he “wasn’t expecting” Leclerc to pull off such a move!
Fans on social media went understandably wild, and here are some of our favourite reactions. You guys are just too funny.
