The Belgian Grand Prix organisers will be wishing they’d installed a pop-up blocker at the weekend, when members of Greenpeace installed real life pop-up ads to protest Shell’s (the event sponsor) plan to drill for oil in the arctic. The ads popped up during the podium, having gone undetected for weeks.
Members of Greenpeace also displayed a banner on the main grandstand saying “Arctic Oil? Shell No!”
