In F1 pit stops are ridiculously fast, as an army of well-drilled mechanics work in perfect harmony to change all four wheels and tyres in just a couple of seconds.
But in the WEC there are tight restrictions on how many people can work on the car in the pit lane, so with just two mechanics allowed to change tyres they have to get creative to find the fastest way to service the car.
At the opening WEC round at Silverstone this Porsche mechanic made the act of removing a wheel with one hand and putting one on with the other look unbelievably simple.
Each wheel and tyre weighs almost 20kg, so that’s some serious mass that mechanic is effortlessly moving around! And it’s not just the weight (and size!) either, but the accuracy with which he slots the new wheel back on. What a hero!
