There was 20% less overtaking this year than there was last season but while overtaking now appears to be pretty damn difficult, no one appears to have told Max Verstappen that.
The Dutchman was arguably the star of the season and recent overtaking stats revealed by Pirelli show that the Toro Rosso driver pulled off 49 overtakes in his debut season, more than any other driver.

It’s also no surprise to see that the two Mercedes drivers weren’t troubled much in 2015, with Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg being overtaken just 3 times each this season.
Sebastian Vettel’s fight from the back in Canada saw the most overtakes in a single race while Fernando Alonso made the most places up during the race starts… although not that difficult with the amount of grid penalties McLaren had this year.
