An all-star karting event used to be a regular thing at the end of the year, with top drivers of the day racing each other in an epic one-off event.
In 1993, following his last F1 championship, Alain Prost found himself in one last battle with arch-rival Ayrton Senna as the two chased down none other than Andrea de Cesaris for the lea.
It’s a massive shame Senna dropped out just as Prost was making his way back up to him after an earlier mistake, but it’s still an awesome thing to watch.
These days the closest thing we have to this is the Race of Champions, which is kinda fun, but nothing like as awesome as this. Bring back end-of-year karting events!
